A day of giving

As we all know the global outbreak of COVID-19 has had many effects world-wide, in light of the situation, in 2021 our Mongolian team in Ulaanbaatar came up with an idea to light up lives for the good of their local community.

COVID disrupted the learning environment of many children, so the team came up with an idea to donate spare computers to six organisations in need, which they selected based on a study of organisations that work for children protection.

The organisations selected were:

  • Department of Family, Child and Youth Development – Women and Children's centre against violence – Protection Centre
  • Department of Family, Child and Youth Development - Children's emergency call centre – Child Helpline-108
  • Gegeelen Children's Centre with Disabilities
  • National Centre Against Violence
  • Don Bosko Children's Orphan Care Centre
  • Erdem Children's Health Centre

The Child Helpline-108 and the adjacent Child Protection Shelter, have an average of 800 children a day call for help. Children in difficult situations are picked up and placed in temporary child shelters until a decision is made in accordance with the law. The Child Helpline-108 despite working with often jammed and faulty computers had continued to use these over many years to carry out their critical work. The very grateful staff immediately installed their systems on the newly donated computers to improve their operations, and also setup a few computers in the children's classroom in the shelter to support learning.

Erdenechimeg, Director of the Mongolian Women's Foundation thanked the team for their generosity, “Due to the spread of COVID-19, children have switched to E-Learning, but not every child has the opportunity to study online. Thank you for initiating such donations for children in such situations and for setting an example for other businesses".

The Mongolian Women's Foundation raises donations from abroad and domestically to fund the well-being of women and children. The team donated computers to the children of the shelter of the National Centre against Violence, and the Gegeelen Centre for Children with Disabilities.

The team’s decision to donate the computers to the children’s organisations has been a great initiative by all involved, inspiring positivity.
